Sing with Soph - Voice Lessons for Young Singers
EVERYONE IS A SINGER…
We just need guidance to learn how to be the best singer we can be—healthy, powerful, artistic, and consistent!
Learning is fun when you love what you're doing, and there is nothing more exciting than making major singing discoveries in a voice lesson.
In my 4 years as a private voice teacher, I’ve worked with young singers with a wide age range, an even wider range of experience, and an even WIDER range of vocal goals.
Some of my students come to voice lessons to prepare for choir/theatre/college auditions and some come to build up their “toolbox” of skills so that they are better equipped for the world of music and theatre. At the same time, voice lessons can simply be a dedicated opportunity to do something you love and get a little better at it.
Does your young singer want to work on their singing skills? Do they have a talent show, audition, or performance coming up? Do they want to learn new music that is fun to sing, stretches them musically, and can be used for auditions down the line?
I’d love to set up a Zoom call to talk about your young singer’s goals and start working towards achieving them!

FAQ
Who is sophie?
Hi! I am a professional singer, actor, and voice teacher in Chicago. I specialize in musical theatre and radio pop vocal styles. Poke around the rest of this website to learn more about me!
Who does she teach?
Anyone! But I have a knack for school-aged singers.
K-12 students are so curious! I aim to help young singers learn how to balance vocal technique with having FUN while singing!
What happens in voice lessons?
Voice lessons are guided in part by your goals as a singer! But for all lessons, the bones are the same.
We start with a vocal warm-up to focus our brain and our voice on the lesson ahead.
We work on 1-2 songs, focusing on one (or many) of the elements below.
-Vocal Technique: breath support, tone quality, placement of sound, blending between registers
-Style: different genres of music require we sing differently!
-Story: all songs tell a story, even if it’s not a musical theatre piece.
Why should you take voice lessons?
Singers of all levels can benefit from voice lessons by learning to sing sustainably (singing shouldn’t hurt or wear you out!) and building their repertoire.
Some students take voice lessons because they are preparing for an audition, some need to work on a specific skill, and some just want to feel more confident while singing!
We spend time in our first lesson together setting the stage for what we need to do in the lesson (and what your student needs to do while practicing at home) to achieve their singing goals.
Where do voice lessons happen?
I teach voice lessons over Zoom! That means you can take lessons from your bedroom, a practice room at your high school, or even from your grandma’s house!

The first lesson will always be 30 minutes long—there’s only so much we can do when we don’t know what our goals are yet!
After that, if your student feels they need more time, lessons can be scheduled for 45 or 60 minutes.
